Branding and Growth, Day One: Set Three Goals

Ive been blogging for about two months now and Ive become so aware of how much work it takes to maintain a successful blog. It is truly difficult; but when blogging is your passion and you are fulfilled each time you post, then the work needed becomes a rewarding challenge.

I went into blogging with a certain niche in mind, but as I study the art of blogging and connecting with other bloggers (and venting to my husband), I’m noticing a shift in my niche. Ive become frustrated and often Ive felt that maybe blogging isn’t for me.

But I know that’s a lie…

Success Demands Hard Work!

Today I enrolled as a student in the WordPress Blogging University. I chose the Branding and Growth course. I struggle so hard with growth and how to grow my readership.

The course began with the following questions for me to provide answers to:

Q. Why do I blog?

A. I blog because I enjoy writing and expressing my thoughts and feelings on paper. I enjoy telling my personal stories and sharing it with my unique voice. I enjoy showcasing fashion and telling stories through photos. Becoming a famous Blogger would also be an AWESOME incentive. Im just sayin…….

Q. If my blog exceeded my wildest dreams, what would that look like?

A. It would be awesome to have a significant readership that frequented my blog daily. To sit in a coffee shop and glance at the woman sitting next to me with her laptop open to my blog, front and center on her screen. Id be elated! To actually change a persons perspective just by reading my blog. To have brands contact me for endorsements and sponsorship. Over the Moon!!!!!

Next, I was asked to translate my vision into three specific goals, with dates:

  1. Publish 3 times a week for the next 2 months.
  2. Dedicate one hour each week visiting my followers blogs and commenting/engaging with them from now until the end of the summer.
  3. Publish a feature each week for a year (weekly featured theme is to be announced).
  4. Added Bonus: Create an editorial calendar for the next 90 days.

Day One: Completed!

Wishing the best of luck to everyone participating in this course.
